Australia - The Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is one of Australia’s premier destinations and the largest city outside the five mainland capitals. This sparkling, sun-and-surf lover’s mecca is just one hour’s drive south of Brisbane and the 50 kilometres of magnificent beaches which stretch from Sanctuary Cove south to Coolangatta on the New South Wales border are a major attraction.

After a day spent on the golden sands, playing golf on one of the 45 golf courses along the 42 km. strip or exploring the theme parks or the Gold Coast shops, which range from street markets and smaller theme shops to the complexes such as Pacific Fair at Broadbeach, Australia Fair at Southport and Robina Town Centre, the evenings provide glittering entertainment in a range from nightclubs to classical concerts with a wealth of marvellous places to eat.

The Gold Coast adventure includes visits to some of Australia’s best wildlife parks where jewel-bright lorikeets fly in to dine and koalas can be seen in the treetops – and in the rugged ranges behind the coast, world heritage stands of magnificent subtropical rainforest are home to ancient trees, unique birds and scenic waterfalls.
